NewYork-Raja (Music Composer / Teacher)

NewYork-Raja, as he is popularly known among the South Asian & Tamil Community in the Greater Toronto Area, started teaching popular music (Film Songs) on the keyboards to the children and adults since 2001.

Born and raised in Chennai, India, NewYork-Raja  has worked with many musicians and popular orchestras in Chennai for many years and has  performed many music shows on stage and television shows and radio programs.

It is a great honour and privilege to Guru, (now known as NewYorRaja,) to have worked and performed with many celebrities including the great Music Composer, AR Rahman, winner of 2 Oscars, for the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.AR Rahman, (then known as AS Dileepkumar) has played keyboards for Guru’s recordings & stage shows and Guru has performed with Dileep as well.

NewYork-Raja has had many years of training in the Classical and Film Music from his Guru: VS Narayanan, and has composed and released many popular songs as private albums with many Celebrity Singers of India.

Famous Singers: SP Balasubrahmanyam, P. Susheela, Unni Krishnan, Sujatha, Krishnaraj, Krish, Harish Raghavendra, SPB Charan, Devan, Bhuvana, Srivardhini, and many more singers have sung the Music Compositions of NewYork-Raja, in his devotional and pop albums.

One of the great music composers of India, ‘Mellisai Mannar’ MS Viswanathan, known as ‘The Pioneer’ of Tamil film music, has appreciated NewYork-Raja many times on his musical talents and sang one song for NewYork-Raja’s own composition.

NewYork-Raja’s 3 songs from his private album, ‘Oru Minnal-the true love’, were used in the Tamil feature film ‘Mathi’, which was produced and directed by Srirangan. The Tamil Community in the Greater Toronto Area very well appreciated the music and the movie.

A print management consultant by profession, NewYork-Raja, out of his passion, enjoys teaching popular music on keyboards and guitar through SAREGA Music.

SAREGA Music – School of Fine Arts, released the First Music CD ‘LOVE Music’, on the 8th Annual Celebration on June 27, 2009. 8 students who are all in their middle and high school, and are under 19 years of age composed the songs on this CD. This is a great achievement

to the students trained by NewYork-Raja, and SAREGA Music - School of Fine Arts. New York-Raja hopes to continue attaining greater heights with his music school, training more and more students and make them good musicians and music composers.
